Advantages of the Sonos Home Theater System
Traditional home theater systems require extensive speaker wiring, making installation complex and potentially damaging to home decor. Sonos adopts a fully wireless design—all speakers sync via Wi-Fi, requiring only a power connection in the desired location. This significantly simplifies installation without compromising sound quality.
Recommended Golden Combinations
Entry-level Combo: Arc Ultra (HK$9,999)
A single soundbar can deliver realistic surround sound, featuring 14 built-in speaker drivers and support for Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio. Simply connect it to your TV's HDMI eARC port to enjoy cinema-grade audio. Suitable for users with a limited budget or smaller living rooms (under 100 sq. ft.).
Standard Combo: Arc Ultra + Sub Mini (HK$14,698)
With the addition of the Sub Mini, low-frequency performance is significantly improved, providing more impactful explosions and bass in music. Suitable for 100-200 sq. ft. living rooms.
Flagship Combo: Arc Ultra + Sub 4 + Era 100 × 2 (HK$23,296)
This is the most complete Sonos home theater configuration: the Arc Ultra handles the front soundstage and overhead channels, the Sub 4 provides deep bass, and two Era 100s serve as left and right surround speakers to achieve a true 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos surround experience. Suitable for large living rooms (over 200 sq. ft.) or users who demand ultimate sound quality.
Setup Steps
Step 1: Connect Arc Ultra to the TV
Use an HDMI cable to connect the Arc Ultra to the TV’s HDMI eARC port (the port labeled eARC, usually HDMI 2 or HDMI 3). If your TV lacks eARC, you can use an optical cable (with slight functional limitations).
Step 2: Download the Sonos App to Complete Pairing
Select "Set up new product" in the Sonos App, scan the QR code on the bottom of the Arc Ultra, and follow the prompts to complete the Wi-Fi pairing. The entire process takes about 10 minutes.
Step 3: Add Sub 4
In the Sonos App, go to the Arc Ultra settings page, select "Add Sub," and scan the Sub 4 QR code. The app will automatically pair and calibrate the Sub 4 with the Arc Ultra.
Step 4: Set Up Era 100 as Surround Speakers
In the Arc Ultra settings page, select "Add Surround Speakers" and pair the left and right Era 100s respectively. Once finished, the system will automatically perform Trueplay sound calibration.
Step 5: Trueplay Sound Calibration
Trueplay is Sonos’s automatic room-tuning technology that analyzes your room's acoustic properties and automatically adjusts the sound output of each speaker. You will need to walk around the room, allowing your iPhone’s microphone to collect sound from different positions (features may vary slightly on Android versions).
Common Questions
How many HDMI sources does the Sonos system support?
The Arc Ultra has only one HDMI eARC port. It is recommended to use the TV as the central hub for all signal sources; connect your set-top box, game console, and other devices to the TV's HDMI ports, and let the TV output the audio to the Arc Ultra.
Can it be used with Apple TV?
Absolutely, and it is the best combination. Apple TV connects to the Arc Ultra via HDMI eARC, allowing for the full transmission of Dolby Atmos and Apple Spatial Audio, with added convenience through HomePod or Siri voice control.
