1. Café added to the Museum

The café has finally arrived! You will see a sign indicating 24-hour service to the left of the art gallery entrance; once inside, you will find Brewster!

Players can sit down and have a coffee for 200 Bells, and you might even run into other islanders enjoying their brew. In the upper left corner of the café, you will find an amiibo phone where you can use amiibo cards to invite specific characters for tea.
2. New NPC Kapp'n takes you to mysterious islands

You can find the new NPC, Kapp'n, at the wooden pier. By spending 1,000 Nook Miles, you can board his boat and set off to a mysterious island while listening to his shanty!

Note that the islands reached from here are different from those reached via the airport (Nook Miles tickets). The season and time may differ from your own island, and you will collect brand-new materials. As for what you can DIY with these materials, you'll have to wait until you play to find out!
3. Harv's Island expansion open

I always felt it was a waste that Harv's Island was only for photos, but now it's finally expanded! There is a path to the right of the house on Harv's Island that leads to an open plaza. Once there, you will see various NPCs selling goods, such as Kicks, Redd, and Saharah. However, you must donate Bells to the Gyroids to help them open their stalls, meaning you won't have to wait for them to visit your own island every week!

Another highlight is meeting Reese and Cyrus again; they can customize furniture that players normally cannot, such as Nook Miles furniture. There are also three new NPCs: Katrina, who can tell your fortune; Harriet, who can cut your hair; and Mayor Tortimer, who has returned!
4. Farming ingredients and cooking feature unlocked

Cooking is finally here, so kitchen equipment is no longer just for show!

First, you need to redeem Nook Miles at the ATM for cooking DIY recipes. You will then obtain various recipes and need to prepare some fields on your island to grow ingredients like carrots, tomatoes, wheat, sugarcane, and potatoes. Each cooked dish replenishes 5/10 stamina, so you won't need to eat fruit one by one anymore!
5. Group stretching in the plaza with motion controls (Joy-Con)

It's time to get up and move! You'll see a radio to the right of the Resident Services door. You can gather all your villagers to stretch (like a plaza dance session). You need to detach your Joy-Cons and follow the villagers' movements—it really makes you feel like you're part of the action!
6. Two new camera modes added

The two new camera modes include Handheld Camera Mode and Tripod Mode. Handheld mode is from your character's perspective; when you get close to a villager, they know you're taking a photo and will strike a pose!

Tripod Mode lets you set the angle so you can step into the frame yourself, no longer needing to use the "god's-eye view" to take photos.
7. 9 new types of fences added

These include park fences, brick fences, frozen fences, corrugated iron fences, etc. You can even change their colors, making your island design more diverse and beautiful.
8. 5 major changes to houses
A. 4 new house exteriors added
Including Japanese-style exteriors—I personally think these are super unique! You can create a Japanese-themed area now.
B. Storage capacity expanded to 5,000
C. Ceiling-mounted furniture added

D. Ability to walk through half-tile spaces indoors

E. Wallpapers can be applied to a single wall

9. New Nook Miles furniture; new items at the store; outdoor storage and ATM

Your Nook Miles are finally useful! The new furniture and Nook Miles items are all very stylish.

The outdoor storage is the same as your home storage, so you don't have to keep going inside to get items! And the outdoor ATM will be super useful when buying turnips.
10. 11 new hairstyles; 11 new reactions

11. Digging + planting Gyroids, DIY into sound-making furniture

I'm sure players who have finished their fossil collections have lost interest in digging, but this new update introduces Gyroids and Gyroid fragments buried underground. You need to re-bury the fragments and water them to grow into full Gyroids. Finally, you can use them to create little sound-making pieces that produce different melodies—super cute!
12. Setting island ordinances

Island ordinances can be set according to your preferences, such as villager routines—you can decide whether they are early birds or night owls.
13. "Custom Designs" can be used for wallpaper, flooring, and clothing

"Custom Designs," which were previously only for clothes and customizing items, can now be used for wallpaper, flooring, and clothes. There are even more interior design options!
14. New Island Life support app added to the phone

This is mainly a game guide for new players; for example, if you don't know how to jump into the water, opening the app will teach you.
15. 12 new K.K. Slider songs added; music boxes for listening

16. Increased limit for inclines and bridges; new ladder DIY

The limit for inclines and bridges has been increased from eight to ten, and the new ladder can be fixed to cliff sides, replacing stairs and inclines, making travel more convenient.
17. Ability to visit villagers' homes/invite them to visit your home
