Philips smart door lock DDL709-FVP: 6 unlocking methods + 5 major features (with video explanation)

The Philips DDL709-FVP smart door lock uses facial recognition to provide a contact-free unlocking experience, allowing you to unlock the door as you approach, which is both convenient and fast.

What are the unlocking methods?

Hello everyone, today I’m introducing the Philips DDL709-FVP electronic door lock. First, let’s talk about the unlocking methods: it supports passwords, fingerprints, key tags, physical keys, facial recognition (FaceID), and one-time passwords.

Outdoor Unit

Looking at the outdoor unit, it features a 144° wide-angle lens, a visual electronic peephole, a doorbell, a password/card-swiping panel, a fingerprint scanner, and a physical keyhole at the bottom.

Indoor Unit

Now for the indoor unit: when someone rings the doorbell, the 4-inch HD indoor screen automatically wakes up, allowing you to see who is outside. The door lock offers three indoor unlocking methods: a touch sensor where you simply press and hold to open, a button release, and a manual rotating knob, all of which are very convenient.

What are the features?

1. Facial Recognition (FaceID)

FaceID is a key feature of this lock. Dual cameras simulate human vision to capture 3D dynamic facial features, effectively identifying the user and filtering out photos or videos, even recognizing faces with makeup. When you step within 1 meter of the lock, the AMS sensor triggers the facial verification process, automatically unlocking the deadbolt once verified. You can enter without any further steps.

2. Long-press "Close" button for internal locking

This lock includes an internal locking mode; simply long-press the "Close" button to lock from the inside. Once locked, the door cannot be opened from the outside, except by the user administrator password.

3. Remote video intercom function

The remote video intercom is a major selling point. When someone rings the doorbell, you receive a notification on your smartphone app, allowing you to open it and view real-time footage of who is at the door.

4. Built-in microphone & one-time password

The lock has a built-in mic, allowing you to have a real-time conversation with the person outside via the app. You can also provide a one-time password for them to enter; this password remains valid for 30 minutes, making the process simple and convenient.

5. Automatic recording of approximately 7-second video clips

Additionally, when someone rings the doorbell, the app automatically records a video clip of about 7 seconds for future review.

The lock is available in Obsidian Black and Copper Red.

What if it runs out of power?

Indoor: The lock uses a built-in lithium battery that can be removed and replaced. It comes with two batteries for easy swapping; simply open the protective cover to replace it. Outdoor: You can charge it instantly using a Type-C cable.
